Auto-advance suits routine visual inspections, where most answers are
compliant. It pauses on any answer needing a note, a category or a measurement.
Equipment
Instruments used to take a measurement are recorded here with their
calibration position, and named in the report. A measured value from an unidentified or
out-of-calibration instrument carries little weight.
Inspector details
Recorded once and used to pre-fill the sign-off on every inspection. You can
amend any of it at the point of signing; the wording used on the day is what appears in the
report.
Enter one statement per line. Each becomes an option in the drop-down at
sign-off, so a different basis can be selected for different work. A consistent statement
across reports carries more weight than one worded differently each time. Rope access

Backup and transfer

Bluco's own RAMS live under RAMS and policies on the home screen. This is
the opposite direction — a place to keep whatever site-specific risk assessment, method
statement, induction pack or fire evacuation procedure this duty holder has provided, so a
technician visiting this site can find and confirm they've read it before starting work.

New structure
Where the manual is held online, record the address. It is the same address
a QR code on the marking notice would point to, so recording it here keeps the plate and the
record pointing at the same document. Clause 6 requires the manual to be provided; a link
does not discharge that, and the duty holder still needs their own copy.
The standard defers to the manufacturer's stated interval, between one and
three months. Where no manual is held, one month is the safe assumption.
Declaration of anchor use
Where no person with authority is available, record the position from
observation and seek written confirmation afterwards. An inspector's observation is not a
declaration by the duty holder and the report will distinguish between the two.

Generates an anchor device installation record for this structure's
register, to BS EN 795:2012 with regard to BS 7883:2019. Fields the register does not
hold — fixings, torque, proof loading — are left for completion by the installer.

Name the document this came from. The report states that the finding was
reported by others and has not been independently verified unless it was seen at this
inspection.
Add quickly
Brand and model are remembered, so a run of
identical items needs only the serial each time.
Items
A tracked defect carries forward with its photographs, so the same wear can
be compared from one inspection to the next. The judgement on textiles is usually about the
rate of change rather than the condition on any one day.
Sign off
Six months is the common interval for equipment in frequent use. The
manufacturer’s instructions and the duty holder’s risk assessment govern.
One record per item. Where a batch shares a single marking, add a suffix so
each remains individually identifiable.
Where the duty holder cannot provide these dates, record them as unknown rather
than guessing. Establishing them, and keeping records going forward, is the duty holder's
responsibility, not something inspection can retrospectively supply.
From the manufacturer’s instructions. Most textile equipment is limited to
10 years from manufacture; metal items commonly have no stated limit, in which case leave blank.
Photograph the marking or label to record the serial and date of manufacture,
and any defect. These stay with the item and appear in the report where relevant.
Keeping this consistent with the standards cited elsewhere in this app (the
inspection checklists and reports) is what lets this document and the inspection records work
from the same basis rather than drifting apart over time.
Attaching the actual PDF means it travels with this record in backups and
opens on any device, even offline — the same way an anchor device's installation record does.

substitute for actually briefing the team.

The intended use determines which regime applies to the device. Anchors for
restraint, arrest, positioning and rope access sit under the Work at Height Regulations and
BS 7883. Where a person is raised or lowered by mechanical means, further duties may arise.
Record what the device was specified for; use beyond that is a matter for the duty holder.
Distinct from the intended use above. Intended use records what activity the
device was specified for; this records who the declaration extends to. A device installed for
Bluco’s own rope access work, for example, is not thereby available to any other person or
organisation unless the duty holder separately extends that use.
Where Bluco installed the device and also examines it, the report records
that fact. Installer-carried periodic inspection is accepted practice, but it is disclosed
rather than left unstated.
Examination of an anchor device is carried out against BS 7883 and the
manufacturer’s instructions, not against BS EN 12572. Include it only where you are
competent and engaged to examine it, and where doing so is within your insurance.
The annual service interval runs from 15 months after manufacture, and every
12 months thereafter.
The six-month inspection requires the unit to be dismounted.
Taken from the webbing tag inside the device near the shackle. The
manufacturer requires this date to be recorded in the inspection log, and recommends the
webbing be replaced after 1.5 years of use regardless of its condition.

Remedial action
Recording work as complete does not close the finding. It is closed when a
later inspection verifies it, which is what makes the record defensible.
Reissue
Reissuing produces the report again at a new revision. The record of what
was inspected is unchanged; only the revision and the reason for it are added.
